Q&A on matters related to coming to China
PART01
Answer: "The cumulative stay in China for no more than 90 days every 180 days" refers to a period of no more than 90 days for foreigners to stay in China within 180 days from any natural day. This 90 day period does not include the time when they hold visas, residence permits, and other visa documents, as well as the time when they hold APEC business travel cards to stay in China. If the cumulative period of visa free stay within 180 days at the time of entry has exceeded 90 days, visa free entry is not allowed; If the cumulative duration is less than 90 days, but the remaining stay time is less than 30 days, the current visa free stay shall not exceed the remaining visa free stay time.
PART02
Answer: The visa exemption agreements signed between China and relevant countries clearly specify the applicable document types, usually passports, and some agreements also include other international travel documents such as temporary travel documents. If a foreign citizen loses their international travel documents that are exempt from visa as stipulated in the agreement, and the reissued documents belong to the category of documents specified in the mutual visa exemption agreement, they can leave the country normally during the visa free stay period with the reissued documents; If the visa free stay period is exceeded, or if the travel documents reissued do not belong to the category of documents stipulated in the agreement, it is still necessary to obtain the stay documents from the entry and exit management department of the public security organs and exit the country within the allowed stay period of the stay documents.
PART03
Answer: Foreign citizens from countries where I am exempt from visa should exit the country before the end of their visa free stay period. If it is necessary to continue staying in China due to emergency reasons or force majeure, one should apply to the entry and exit management department of the public security organ to complete the stay procedures at the end of the visa free stay period.
PART04
Answer: According to Article 39 of the Exit and Entry Administration Law of the People's Republic of China, if a foreigner stays in a hotel within the territory of China, the hotel shall register the foreigner's accommodation in accordance with the relevant provisions of hotel industry security management, and report the foreigner's accommodation registration information to the local public security organ. Foreigners who reside or stay in other residences outside of hotels shall register with the public security organs of their place of residence within 24 hours of check-in by themselves or the host. According to the above regulations, foreign citizens from countries where I am exempt from visa application must complete accommodation registration in accordance with the law after entering the country without visa application.
The "ARRIVAL CARD" filled out by foreign citizens upon entering China has been informed in both Chinese and English of the registration procedures for foreign residents in the "Important Notice" section. Please follow the relevant instructions to handle foreign accommodation registration in accordance with the law. China's immigration management agencies and public security organs have further simplified the registration projects, and will make full use of Internet technology to simplify the registration and declaration methods and improve the convenience of foreigners in China.
